THIS SITE IS NO LONGER USED - FOR INFO ONLY

145.250 repeater returned to the air on Thursday June 7, 2018. The machine was off the air for nearly 13 months due to damage on the tower. Thanks to the efforts of Danny Hampton, K4ITL and the tower crew led by Murray Adams, WA4DAN, it has now been replaced and better than ever. Weather and work on the WFMY TV tower made for a lengthy process of access for tower time. The repeater is the same as before with the NCPRN and all new equipment. The repeater is a modified Kenwood TKR750 Ver. 2 and running 50 watts out into a split antenna system at 1400 feet. It still use an 88.5 tone on transmit and receive. the echo link is now back active with many thanks to Jim Hightower, W4JLH.

Here are some photos and a coverage map of the repeater and great views from the top of the WFMY TV 2000' tower. (Murray, WA4DAN for providing the photos)

Transmit Dipole array antenna at about
1440 feet (12-29-18)

Adjusting receiving antenna dipole.
The receiving antenna is at about 1310 feet
and the repeater platform is at 1410 feet (12-29-18)
Murray Adams, WA4DAN, of Adams Tower, was sent up the WFMY tower to investigate the damage to the WMAG broadcast antenna November 29, 2018 located on the tower. While Murray was there he checked out the 25 repeater and made some adjustments to the receiving antenna. He added the 25 cabinet was in great shape and still very secure. He sent these two photos above.

UHF W4GG DMR REPEATER

This is infomration for the Browns Summit DMR repeater - 444.225 Mhz. It is an open repeater a membership to G.A.S. is not required (but appreciated) It is part of the Piedmont Repeater Network (PRN)

The repeater is located off Scott Rd. just near Lee's Chapel Rd, in Northeast Greensboro in the Browns Summit community. The antenna is at approximately 310 feet.
The repeater is the latest technology Motorola SLR5700.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE DMR REPEATER & DATA BELOW:

*** On demand activates a talkgroup when users request - Key it up and release - the connection continues for 15 minutes after the end of transmissions or when the "Clear Timeslot" is activated. When you finish your QSO use the "Clear Timeslot" to clear The Time Slot you were using.

*** The PRN Talkgroup is NOT for a long QSO - it is a "calling channel" - keep QSOs brief or QSY your party off to a Chat 1 or Chat 2 TG. If your party is on the same repeater, go to that repeater's LOCAL. When you go to another TG, PLEASE listen once you have keyed it to activate, BEFORE you transmit.
DO NOT USE Chat 1 or 2 if you are both on the SAME repeater
USE LOCAL only !!

LOCAL PRIORITY

Repeaters in the PRN system, the "Local TG" should have priority usage of Timeslot 1. While we understand, appreciate, and respect the desire to work other stations outside the primary PRN footprint via TGs TAC 310 and TAC 1, locals should have priority given then probability of more traffic and more users in the repeater(s) defined area. As a PRN/DMR repeater user, please be aware of other traffic - activity on the repeater or Timeslot. Use "Monitor All" or observe the busy light on your radio before you transmit.

*** If you are concerned about your audio or to check to see if you are getting into a specific repeater - use the Echotest function.

*** Most all repeaters in the PRN systen are programmed alike.

*** The Local of Browns Summit, King, Graham and Asheboro are tied together - so when you are on one you will be on four locals at the same time.

No lower tier radios BELOW the MD380s / MD390s and CS700/750s are allowed on our system. Radios by Motorola, Tyteria MD380, MD390; Connect Systems radios are Tier II radios and all Okay.
