ANNOUNCEMENTS OF INTEREST

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR
Operation Red Sleigh, Inc.
July 19th 2014

We need 8-12 volunteers, which should allow for at least 2 ham/volunteers per rest stop.  Plus at least 1 SAG per route. I must also include the following caveats:

1) That all rest stops must have the means to setup a temp station that can operate on UHF (440 simplex) and place an antenna 12 ft. high..

2) That SAGs have UHF (440 simplex) capability from their vehicle.

3) 800 mhz radios will also be provided and utilized to promote training and discipline on using tactical (non-ham) identifiers. Hams will be asked to operate on an a predetermined 800 mhz conventional repeater when possible.

Start Location: Southwestern Randolph High School
1641 Hopewell Friends Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205

Emergency Minded Individuals

Have you looked at the EMCOMM Challenge Award offered in this year's North Carolina QSO Party?

Please see: http://ncqsoparty.org/index.php?id=rules (loads slow)

We know that the qualifications for this award can be a little confusing, here are the highlights:

1 - This is a tag-on award and is not a category.

2 - One emergency minded person pre-registers and becomes the contact for his/her team.

3 - The contact person solicits individuals or clubs that are or will be operating in one of the NCQP categories for a county in the chosen emergency management area. (mobiles or expeditions that will operate across area boundaries cannot be used)

4 - When the individual or club submits their log they will enter the team name in the Club field of their Cabrillo file.(one team name only)

5 - Scores of the individual logs will be added together to form total points for this award.

6 - When a winner is chosen the contact person will receive the award and can share between participants of the group.

As to date we have not received any pre-registrations. (see rules page linked above)
This is a great opportunity to test portability, preparedness and for leaders to learn more about their resources.

As part of the digital operations W4DW and NC4QP will include MT63-1K. Stay tuned for possible schedules.

Tnx es 73,
